You know, the greatest writing has little quirks in it that makes it human. I hate to shamelessly use my favorite movie, but it's the only example I can come up with. In Die Hard, John McClane is a fan of Roy Rogers. This is an odd quirk for a bad ass, but it totally works and gives us its greatest line "Yippy ki yay, motherfucker." I think most plots are just trying to get from one plot point to another. Sometimes its ok, as in Dark Knight. But take Iron Man for example. On paper, it was probably mediocre at best and in the hands of the wrong people, aweful. But from what I hear, Favreau and Downey put a lot of spice and flavor in the story and what we got is what we saw. Kudos to the post.
